Finally, a year and a half after the release of the CD version of our friends at Decorative Stamp the debut album from the unrelentingly staggering production talent that is AbSUrd is finally upon us on vinyl format.
Entitled 'Close to Distantly', it is an epic, sprawling release taking us on a psychedelic voyage through distant lands and alternate realities, both dark and mysterious as well as warm and magical in equal measure.
Spanning seventeen songs, the album is evenly split between vocal and instrumental passages, and featuring an intimidating roster of guest spots, both musical and vocal. Aiding and abetting AbSUrd on this voyage are both jamesreindeer and Nadia D' Alò providing additional musical accompaniment and field recordings, whilst vocal appearances from Babel Fishh, Bleubird, Ceschi, James P Honey, jamesreindeer and Univac provide a myriad of tones and visions within the psychotropic stew.
This release can be seen as the culmination of AbSUrd's musical endevours over the past few years and serves as a testament to quite how remarkable a producer he has become, creating something between music and ritual experience, somewhere between the darkly mechanical and the dream-like intangible.
